The committee proposes intensifying and amplifying dialogue with the Kosovo* Assembly

Strasbourg, 14.12.2012 - The draft resolution adopted today in Turin, based on a report by Björn Von Sydow (Sweden, SOC), stresses the need for the Council of Europe to maintain direct working relations with the Kosovo authorities at all levels in order to ensure due implementation of the Council of Europe co-operation activities. It also proposes to intensify and amplify dialogue between PACE and the Kosovo Assembly.

Furthermore, the committee regrets a certain “slow pace” of progress regarding protection of human rights and rule of law, and invites Kosovo, but also the European Union Rule of Law Mission (EULEX), to fight corruption together by reinforcing the legal, political and institutional framework.

Lastly, the draft resolution calls upon the authorities in Pristina and Belgrade to condemn interethnic crimes and acts of intolerance and to co-operate with the EULEX War Crimes Investigation Unit and the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia.
