Strasbourg, 17.04.2013 – The Speaker of the Russian State Duma Sergey Naryshkin has accepted an invitation to address the Parliamentary Assembly during its October session.
PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon made the announcement following meetings yesterday in Moscow with Mr Naryshkin and Russia’s Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Alexey Meshkov.
Other issues discussed included deeper contacts between PACE and the Russian State Duma, as well as the functioning of PACE’s monitoring procedures.
They also covered Russia’s contribution to solving Europe’s “frozen conflicts”, the Council of Europe’s neighbourhood (including the situation in Syria), reform of the Council of Europe and relations between the Council and Belarus.
