PACE delegation makes pre-electoral visit to Albania

Strasbourg 05.06.2013 – A six-member delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), led by Luca Volontè (Italy, EPP/CD), will carry out a pre-electoral mission to Albania on 10-11 June 2013, to assess the electoral framework and campaign prior to the parliamentary elections to be held in the country on 23 June.

In Tirana, the delegation is due to meet the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Parliament, the Minister of Interior and the Albanian delegation to PACE.

Talks are also planned with the Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission, representatives of the political parties standing for election, members of the diplomatic corps in Tirana, civil society and the media.

A full 27-member delegation from the Assembly will return to the country to observe the voting before making a final assessment.

A press conference is scheduled for Tuesday 11 June at 6.30 pm at the Hotel Rogner (Bulevardi Deshmoret e Kombit, Tirana).
