Strasbourg, 19.06.2013 – A 20-member delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), headed by Luca Volontè (Italy, EPP/CD), will travel to Albania from 21 to 24 June to observe the parliamentary elections alongside observers from the OSCE’s Parliamentary Assembly and the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR).
The delegation will meet, in particular, the leaders of the main political parties and coalitions, the Chairperson of the Central Electoral Commission and representatives of civil society, the media and the international community, before being deployed around the country to observe the ballot on 23 June.
An expert from the Venice Commission – the Council of Europe's group of independent legal experts – will join the delegation for legal support .
A PACE pre-electoral delegation visited Tirana on 10 and 11 June.
