World Forum for Democracy: citizen participation in the digital age

"The new information technologies are not a revolution but an evolution. Democracy and its institutions are in the image of society itself: in a permanent state of flux," the PACE President said in Strasbourg today on the occasion of the World Forum for Democracy.

"As elected representatives, we want more interaction with our fellow citizens, especially with young people, and we are open to innovative methods of dialogue, in particular those offered by the new information technologies," he added, recalling that PACE will hold a debate in January 2014 on the basis of a report by Anne Brasseur on 'The internet and politics: the impact of new information and communication technology on democracy'.
