Pre-electoral visit to Skopje

A five-member delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), led by Stefan Schennach (Austria, SOC), will carry out a pre-electoral visit to Skopje on 11-12 March, ahead of the presidential election in “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia” on 13 April 2014, to assess the electoral framework and campaign.

The delegation is due to meet, in particular, the President of the Republic, the President of the Assembly of the Republic, the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Information Society and Administration. Talks are also scheduled with candidates standing for election, the Chairman of the State Election Commission, the delegation of “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia” to PACE, as well as with members of the diplomatic community and representatives of international organisations, civil society and the media.

A full 21-member delegation from the Assembly will return to the country to observe the voting.
