PACE President Anne Brasseur ; Turkish Minister of European Union Affairs and Chief Negotiator, former PACE President Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu ; the representative of the Mayor of Strasbourg Maria-Fernanda Gabriel ; the Chairperson of the European Museum Forum (EMF) Goranka Horjan and the founder of the Baksi Museum Hüsamettin Koçan took part in the ceremony award of the 2014 Museum Prize to the Baksi Museum (Turkey).
At the opening of the ceremony, PACE President said: “The Council of Europe Museum Prize looks in particular for museums that are not only for people but of their people, with a strong social dimension and community involvement. We look for museums which believe in their role of bridging cultures, which create a sense of belonging, and which promote a wider European identity rooted in diversity. We look for museums which strongly promote cultural democracy and human rights. The Baksi Museum fulfils fully – and in a very special way – these criteria.”
