Lise Christoffersen (Norway, SOC) and Piotr Wach (Poland, EPP/CD), co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for the monitoring of obligations and commitments by the Republic of Moldova, will make a fact-finding visit to this country from 23 to 26 September 2014.
They will be especially interested in the current political situation and institutional developments before the parliamentary elections, the implementation of Assembly Resolution 1955 (2013), and the state of play in Transnistria.
During this visit, the co-rapporteurs are due to meet the President of the Republic, the Speaker of Parliament, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Ministers of Interior and Justice as well as the Deputy Prime Minister responsible for reintegration. Talks are also scheduled with leaders of parliamentary factions and political parties, representatives of the judicial authorities, the President of the Central Election Commission, and with representatives of local authorities, the diplomatic community, NGOs and the media.
In Transnistria, the co-rapporteurs are due to meet representatives of the de facto authorities and NGOs.
Ms Christoffersen and Mr Wach will give a press conference at the Parliament (Press Conference Hall, Off. 204) on Friday 26 September at noon.
