An eleven-member delegation from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), headed by Andreas Gross (Switzerland, SOC), will be in Tunisia from 23 to 27 October to observe the 26 October parliamentary elections.
The delegation is due to meet Tunisia’s interim President as well as the President of the National Constituent Assembly, election officials and leaders of the parties running in the election, before observing the voting on election day.
The Assembly has closely followed the situation in Tunisia since the democratic changes following the Arab Spring, and has developed working relations with the National Constituent Assembly of Tunisia.
The delegation’s preliminary conclusions are due to be presented at a press conference at 11 a.m. on Monday 27 October (venue to be confirmed).
