Forthcoming events in the framework of the Eastern Partnership

18 May 2015, Chisinau (Republic of Moldova): a first regional seminar on social rights in Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries will focus on the European Social Charter. Members of the national parliamentary committees dealing with social rights will share their experiences and will consider ways of addressing the issues raised in the Conclusions of the European Committee of Social Rights on the conformity of national legislation and practice with the European Social Charter. They will discuss present problems, possible solutions and examples of good practice in this area. The Seminar is organised by PACE's Sub-Committee on the European Social Charter In cooperation with the Department of the European Social Charter and PACE's Parliamentary Projects Support Division.

 

4-5 June 2015, Paris (France): a parliamentary conference  will be held at the National Assembly focusing on the right to free elections and the challenge of applying election legislation and the Council of Europe standards in this matter. Members of national parliaments from the EaP countries, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, will participate in this first conference on electoral issues in order to exchange their experiences in this matter and meet experts from different election bodies and NGOs. Representatives from Belarus will also participate.

12 June 2015, Kyiv (Ukraine): a regional conference on awareness raising about the security of journalists will be organised in cooperation with the PACE Sub-Committee on Media and Information Society and hosted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. Delegations of MPs from the EaP countries have been invited and will discuss parliamentary initiatives for the safety of journalists and hold exchanges of views with media freedom NGOs and journalists having worked in conflict zones.
