Lise Christoffersen (Norway, SOC) and Piotr Wach (Poland, EPP/CD), co-rapporteurs for the monitoring of the Republic of Moldova by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), are to visit the country from 13 to 16 May.
The aim of their latest visit is to assess the implementation of the agreed “action plan” on the honouring of the Republic of Moldova’s commitments to the Council of Europe, as well as the current political situation and institutional developments following the November 2014 parliamentary elections.
They are due to meet the Speaker of Parliament, the President of the Republic, Prime Minister and a number of ministers, as well as representatives of the main political factions in parliament, the President of the Constitutional Court, the Director of the National Anti-corruption Centre and the General Prosecutor, among others. They will also meet the Moldovan delegation to PACE and representatives of the international community.
Travelling to Comrat to visit the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, they will meet the Governor, the head of the People’s Assembly and civil society representatives.
