04/03/2016 Standing Committee
In its opinion on the draft Council of Europe Convention on Cinematographic Co-production (revised), PACE proposed the setting up of a monitoring body with the necessary functions to achieve better co-ordination of the implementation of the convention, especially through the sharing of best practice and the collection and analysis of data measuring the level of co-production activity.
In adopting this opinion unanimously, on the basis of the report by Mogens Jensen (Denmark, SOC), the Standing Committee welcomed the fact that the draft revised convention updates the common legal framework, building on economic realities, and reflects the ambition to open the convention to non-European countries, thus encouraging cultural diversity. It proposed a number of amendments to clarify and strengthen the text.
