Following this evening's bombing in Ankara, Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) President Pedro Agramunt strongly condemned the attack and extended his condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.
"This new violence against innocent people cannot be justified," he said.
"I wish to express my solidarity with and support to the people and authorities of Turkey. Terrorism undermines our democratic societies. One of the priorities of my mandate as President of the Assembly is to support member states in their efforts to combat terrorism, in line with the Council of Europe's role. Our shared values and principles – human rights, democracy and the rule of law – remain our best defence against this scourge," he concluded.
