A seven-member delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), led by Elisabeth Schneider-Schneiter (Switzerland, EPP/CD), will carry out a pre-electoral mission to Chisinau on 27-28 September, to assess the election campaign and political climate prior to the presidential election on 30 October.
In Chisinau, the delegation is due to meet the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, the main presidential candidates and leaders of political parties.
Meetings are also scheduled with the Chairperson and members of the Central Electoral Commission, the Chairperson of the Audiovisual Coordinating Council, and representatives of the media, NGOs and the diplomatic community.
A full 21-member delegation from the Assembly will return to the country to observe the voting.
