“Once again, it appears that terrorism strikes one of our member states – Turkey. I strongly condemn the car bomb attack in Durak and express a message of solidarity to the authorities and the people of Turkey” said PACE President today.
“On behalf of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, I am sending my sincerest condolences to the families of the victims and a message of support to the injured” he continued.
“Turkey is facing unprecedented challenges today. Terrorism is one of them. In the current difficult domestic and international context, Turkey needs full Council of Europe support and we are ready to provide it."
"Our best response to terrorism is to make our democratic institutions, rule of law and human rights mechanisms stronger, so as to immunise our societies against extremism and radicalisation that that fuel violence and terror” concluded the PACE President.
