A PACE public hearing on the deinstitutionalisation of persons with disabilities is to be streamed live at 2 p.m. CET on Tuesday 16 March.
Organised by the Assembly’s Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development, the hearing will bring together a series of high-level officials from the UN, EU, WHO and Council of Europe dealing with this question, as well as representatives of disability rights organisations, including people with mental health and psychosocial disabilities, and parliamentarians from across Europe.
The hearing will focus on the benefits of deinstitutionalisation, look at the emerging consensus on how to end coercion in mental health, and assess how to spread good practice regarding voluntary measures in psychiatry.
Anyone wishing to follow the event live is invited to write by e-mail to the committee secretariat at [email protected] to request a viewer link. A recording of the entire hearing will be posted as soon as possible after it ends, appearing below.
