23/11/2022 Parliamentary Support
Staff from both chambers of the Parliament of Morocco are to take part in a study visit to the Italian Parliament on 28 and 29 November 2022 on the theme of opening Parliament to citizens.
The visit, organised jointly by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the Italian Parliament, will enable Moroccan parliamentary officials to become better acquainted with initiatives taken by the Italian Chamber of Deputies and Senate to welcome, inform and involve citizens in their work.
They will be able to hold exchanges with their Italian counterparts and draw inspiration from the good practices of the Italian model, with a view to making the Moroccan Parliament more open to citizens.
The Moroccan Parliament has already taken a number of steps in recent years to bring citizens closer to the institution, enabling the public to access the parliament building and putting in place a virtual guided tour of the House of Representatives.
This study visit forms part of the joint programme “Support to the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture in Morocco and to the Development of the Role of Parliament in the Consolidation of Democracy in Morocco 2020-2023” financed by the European Union and implemented by the Council of Europe.
