21/02/2023 Parliamentary Support
The Chamber of Councillors of Morocco and the PACE will organise a parliamentary meeting on "Strengthening women's economic empowerment: employment, entrepreneurship, training" on 22 February at the headquarters of the Parliament in Rabat, within the framework of the joint program “Support to the national mechanism for the prevention of torture in Morocco and to the development of the role of parliament in the consolidation of democracy in Morocco 2020-2023”, financed by the European Union and implemented by the Council of Europe.
Gender inequalities are striking as far as economic integration among women is concerned: pay gaps, difficulties in accessing employment, slow or even stagnant career development, poor gender segmentation in certain economic sectors and low female representation in strategic positions.
This parliamentary meeting aims mainly to strengthen the knowledge of the national context and the Moroccan experiences in the field of women's economic empowerment, share the experience of the Council of Europe member States in this field, make known the European policies in the field of gender equality and non-discrimination and present PACE’s tools to promote the place of women in the economy.
The event will be attended by the Minister of Solidarity and Social Integration and the Family in Morocco, parliamentary advisors and executives of the Chamber of Councillors, parliamentarians and members of the PACE Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination, national and international experts on gender issues and members of civil society.
