Representatives of institutional partners who work together in the framework of International Election Observation Missions (IEOM) met in Bern, Switzerland, today to renew links and discuss reinforcing co-operation.
Taking part in the meeting - hosted by PACE Secretary General Despina Chatzivassiliou-Tsovilis - were the Director of the OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights Matteo Mecacci, the Secretary General of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Roberto Montella, and the Secretary General of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Ruxandra Popa.
Topics covered included the impact of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, the organisation of post-war elections in Ukraine, issues around observing out-of-country and electronic voting, and security challenges, among other things.
The meeting took place on the eve of a major conference in Bern on "elections in times of crisis".
