26/05/2023 Election observation
A 17-member delegation of members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), led by Frank Schwabe (Germany, SOC), will return to Türkiye from 26 to 29 May 2023 to observe the second round of the presidential election, alongside other international observers from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the OSCE’s ODIHR.
In Ankara they are due to meet representatives of the presidential candidates, as well as a number of election analysts, before observing the voting on polling day. A representative of the Venice Commission – the Council of Europe's group of independent legal experts – will again provide legal support during the visit.
International observers, including a 33-member delegation from PACE, observed the first round of the election on 14 May and issued these preliminary findings.
The observers will hold a joint press conference in Ankara on Monday 29 May at 3 p.m. (Da Vinci 1, Divan Ankara Hotel, Yıldızevler, Jose Marti Cd. No:2, Ankara). It will be broadcast live on this website.
