The PACE Inter-Parliamentary Co-operation Division is organising, from October 25 to 27, 2023, a study visit to Spain on combating violence against women. This will be an opportunity to share the pioneering experience of Spain, which has had a comprehensive system to combat violence against women for more than 20 years.
This initiative is part of the joint program "Support for the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture and the Development of the Role of Parliament in Strengthening Democracy in Morocco 2020-2023," funded by the EU and implemented by the Council of Europe.
The visit is intended for members of the Thematic Group responsible for evaluating the conditions and circumstances of implementing Law No. 103-13 on the fight against violence against women in the Chamber of Representatives, as well as the officials supporting them. Participants will have the chance to exchange insights on the work needed to improve the national law on violence against women-Law 103.13, and its implementation.
The participants will visit the Spanish Congress as well as several government institutions dealing with the issue of combating violence against women, namely the Government Delegation against Gender-Based Violence, the VioGen system at the Ministry of the Interior, the Prosecutor service and the Court on Violence against Women, the Central Unit on Family and Women’s care at the National Police, and several NGOs.
