20/03/2025 European Conference of Presidents of Parliament
Addressing the European Conference of Presidents of Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, appealed for unwavering support in Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression. “No matter how hard it gets, no matter what we face, we will never stop. We will not stop fighting for our freedom and independence, for democracy and development, for the future of our children,” he declared.
Mr Stefanchuk urged European leaders to use their influence in Washington to ensure continued support, emphasising that “Ukraine needs you now more than ever.” He also called on the Council of Europe to accelerate efforts to hold Russia accountable, stating that “justice delayed is justice denied.”
Highlighting the significance of the Council of Europe’s decision to expel Russia, he stressed the need for stronger sanctions and the establishment of a Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine, and the completion of the full compensation mechanism. “Putin must pay himself the bill for the war he started,” he insisted. Mr Stefanchuk reaffirmed that Ukraine seeks real and lasting peace, but not at any cost, urging Europe to show leadership, unity, and strength in defending itself against Russian aggression.
