Post-monitoring visit of PACE rapporteurs to North Macedonia

Sibel Arslan (Switzerland, SOC) and Joseph O’Reilly (Ireland, EPP/CD), co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for the post-monitoring dialogue with North Macedonia, will make a fact-finding visit to Skopje from 23 to 25 April.

Discussions will mainly focus on recent developments since the co-rapporteurs’ last visit in May 2019, in particular on the reform of the judiciary and electoral framework, the fight against corruption, media freedom, the rights of minorities and on the implementation of PACE Resolution 2304 (2019) on post-monitoring dialogue with North Macedonia.

They are due to meet the Speaker of the Assembly, the Ministers of the Interior and Justice, as well as the Minister in charge of European Affairs.

Meetings are also scheduled with Chairpersons of various parliamentary committees, leaders of political parties, the Chairperson and members of the delegation of North Macedonia to PACE, the State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption, the President and members of the State Election Commission, the Ombudsman, as well as representatives of the judicial authorities.
