PACE President, ending working visit, praises ‘constructive attitude’ shown by Bulgarian authorities

PACE President Theodoros Rousopoulos has ended a two-day working visit to Bulgaria by welcoming the constructive attitude of the Bulgarian authorities as regards ongoing reforms and current political and institutional developments, including within the framework of Bulgaria’s ongoing post-monitoring dialogue with the Assembly. He also encouraged the active participation of the Bulgarian parliamentary delegation in the work of the Assembly.

During the visit, made at the invitation of the President of the Bulgarian National Assembly Nataliya Kiselova, the President also met Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, the leader of the GERB-UDF parliamentary group Boyko Borisov, members of the Bulgarian delegation to PACE led by Denitsa Sacheva (Bulgaria, EPP/CD), and the former Prime Minister of Bulgaria His Excellency Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha.

The President also delivered a lecture on “the Council of Europe in challenging times” to students at the Faculty of International Relations at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and gave an interview to the Bulgarian National Television programme Panorama.
