During his working visit to the Czech Republic (30 March - 1 April), PACE President Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu underlined that the Czech Republic could make a significant contribution to the work of the Council of Europe, regarding the accession of the European Union to the European Convention on Human Rights, as well as the reform of the Council of Europe. Other issues raised included the situation of the Roma population, the situation in Belarus, recent developments in the Arab world as well as PACE’s new “Partnership for democracy” status.

PACE President Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu will make a working visit to the Czech Republic from 30 March to 1 April 2011. His schedule includes meetings with the Prime Minister Petr Necas, the President of the Senate Milan Stech, the Vice-President of the Senate Alena Gajduskova, the President of the Chamber of Deputies Miroslava Nemcova, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Galuska, as well as the Mayor of Prague.

PACE President Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu is due to make an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina from 23-25 March 2011. He is due to continue discussions with key political stakeholders on the country’s implementation of its Council of Europe commitments and obligations, as well as the preparation of the constitutional reform necessary to implement the judgment of the European Court of Human Rights in the case Sejdic and Finci v. Bosnia and Herzegovina.

PACE President Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu is to make an official visit to the Principality of Monaco on 18 and 19 March 2011 where he is due to meet the President of Monaco’s National Council Jean-Francois Robillon and representatives of political groups in the Council, followed by an audience with His Serene Highness Prince Albert II. He will also meet the Principality’s Minister of State Michel Roger.

However, “declarations have to be supported by concrete actions aiming, among others, at resolving the issue of missing persons, promoting effective refugee return and, where appropriate, their local integration,” he stressed.
