The Assembly,

Recalling its Recommendation 168 in which it invited the Committee of Ministers to request Member Governments to keep their national Parliaments regularly informed, so far as possible, of the decisions taken by the Committee of Ministers;

Having been informed by the Committee of Ministers that it regards as sufficient existing means of information namely:

the transmission of the official documents of the Council of Europe to the Clerks or libraries of national Parliaments; and
the submission by some Governments of Special Annual Reports to their Parliaments ;

Believing that these measures do not suffice to ensure adequate publicity for the work of the Council of Europe, either in Parliaments or among the general public;

Determined to remedy the present situation whereby in national Parliaments as in the eyes of public opinion so many of the Assembly's Recommendations are regarded as a dead letter;

Desirous that, by the concerted efforts of all concerned, greater interest in the Council of Europe's work should be awakened and its prestige enhanced among parliamentarians and the general public,

Requests Representatives to take appropriate steps in their national Parliaments urging each Government to inform its Parliament regularly:

1 of the position it has adopted in relation to the Assembly's recommendations; and
2 of the action taken thereon by the Committee of Ministers.
