1. Having examined the report of its Committee on Agriculture on an information campaign to promote animal welfare (Doc. 3122) ;
2. Recalling its previous efforts in this field, in particular its Recommendations 620 (1971), 621 (1971) and 641 (1971) ;
3. Noting with pleasure that action has been taken on these recommendations thanks to the decision of the Committee of Ministers to set up an ad hoc Committee to draw up a European Convention on animal welfare in intensive rearing conditions ;
4. Noting with pleasure the decision by the World Federation for the Protection of Animals to hold its next congress at the Council of Europe headquarters in 1974,
5. Instructs its Committee on Agriculture to follow closely the proceedings of the 1974 Congress of the World Federation for the Protection of Animals, and to submit in due course a draft recommendation aimed at enlisting all the authorities concerned in a large-scale information campaign on the welfare of domestic animals and the protection of fauna.
