The Assembly,

1. Welcoming the new Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Seizure of Aircraft concluded at the International Conference on Air Law held at The Hague from 1 to 16 December 1970 under the auspices of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) ;

2. Considering that it is of great importance that this Convention should come into force soon, and that as many States as possible should become parties to it ;

3. Referring to its Recommendations 599 (1970) and 613 (1970), and its Resolution 450 (1970) ;

4. Referring to Resolution (70) 23 of the Committee of Ministers and to the reply of the Committee of Ministers to Recommendation 599 (1970),

5. Recommends that the Committee of Ministers urge all member States of the Council of Europe to ratify as soon as possible the Convention for the Suppression of Unlawful Seizure of Aircraft.
