The Assembly,

Noting that on 6th July 1961 the Committee of Ministers adopted the text of the European Social Charter which is to be signed on 18th October next;

Recalling its Recommendations 249 and 268 and its Resolution 179 on the ratification of Council of Europe Conventions,

1. Considers that the European Social Charter should be ratified by all member countries within a period not exceeding one year;

2. Resolves as follows :

Members of the Consultative Assembly shall undertake to introduce appropriate action in their national Parliaments urging their Governments to begin ratification procedure immediately after signature.
