Convening of a 5th Seminar on International Voluntary Service

The Assembly,
2. Considering that the previous seminars on International Voluntary Service have enabled voluntary as well as governmental organisations concerned with development cooperation to discuss freely questions of common concern and to prepare the ground for measures designed to make their work more effective ;
3. Considering that non-governmental organisations will and must continue to play a major role in the Second Development Decade ;
4. Considering that development, to be effective, must be broadly planned and coordinated over many fields, which makes increased international cooperation necessary ;
5. Having regard to the report of its Committee on Social and Health Questions (
Doc. 3219) ;
6. Welcoming the decision of principle taken by the Committee of Ministers to support the organisation of a 5th Seminar on International Voluntary Service,
7. Resolves to hold in Strasbourg from 5-9 November 1973 a 5th Seminar on International Voluntary Service on the theme of "Prospects for multinational cooperation" ;
8. Requests its President to invite the appropriate organisations to take part in this seminar ;
9. Invites the Secretary General to make all necessary arrangements for the seminar in cooperation with the competent international organisations.
