According to Danish media, 38 Burmese United Nations refugees or quota refugees who were originally granted resident status in Romania fled collectively to Denmark because, according to them, they were not treated in a decent way in Romania. Among other things, the refugees complain not having received the promised financial support which is the reason why they and their families have starved. Many of them also complain that they were forced to sign a contract of integration even though the papers were not translated from Romanian; consequently they did not understand what they were signing.
In this context, Mr Mogens Jensen,
To ask the Committee of Ministers,
Does the Committee of Ministers intend to obtain information about the way the Romanian Government treats United Nations refugees, including a report on the compatibility with the European Convention on Human Rights?
