The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has reviewed Albania's progress in fulfilling its obligations since joining in 1995. While acknowledging significant advancements in areas such as electoral reform, judicial independence, and anti-corruption efforts, the Assembly also highlights ongoing challenges, including political polarization, media freedom deterioration, and the need for better protection of minority rights. The Assembly calls for further legislative improvements, particularly regarding electoral stability, minority rights, and the treatment of LGBTI+ individuals. It expresses a commitment to engage in post-monitoring dialogue with Albania, while warning that failure to address key concerns could lead to renewed monitoring.
