Your Committee expresses its sincere appreciation of the work accomplished by the Brussels Treaty Organisation and has devoted to this subject the following Recommendation which they submit to the Assembly.

B Draft Recommendation

The Consultative Assembly,

Having taken note of the Report transmitted to the Council of Europe by the Brussels Treaty Organisation (Doc. 39) and, particularly, of the section of that Report concerning co-operation in cultural matters,

1. Recommends that the Committee of Ministers should urge the European Governments which are not signatories to the Brussels Treaty to conclude with one another, and with the Governments signatory to the Brussels Treaty, cultural conventions similar to those concluded within the framework of the said Treaty.

2. Recommends, further, that the Committee of Ministers should take the necessary steps to ensure that the Assembly be informed at each Ordinary Session, through the Secretariat- General, of the progress in relation to the unity of Europe which has been achieved in the cultural field, through the collaboration of the various Member Governments.
