A Draft Order

The Assembly instructs its Committees on General Affairs and on Economic Questions to prepare immediately after the signature of the Common Market and Euratom Treaties their opinions on those texts, which should be sent to the Standing Committee for approval and immediate publication.

B Explanatory Note

1

A procedure must be arranged which will enable the Assembly to express its views on the texts of the Common Market and Euratom treaties as soon as they are published. Recent information indicates that these texts should be ready during the month of February. If the Assembly does not hold a session at that time to discuss these texts, it is desirable that it authorise its Committees on General Affairs and on Economic Questions to formulate any specific observations which, on the proposal of their Rapporteurs, they might have to make on these treaties, and to submit them for approval and immediate publication to the Standing Committee.
