17/04/2008 Monitoring
Strasbourg, 17.04.2008 – Luc Van den Brande (Belgium, EPP/CD) and Theodoros Pangalos (Greece, SOC), co-rapporteurs on Russia for the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), will make a fact-finding visit to Moscow from 20 to 23 April to take stock of Russia’s compliance with its obligations and commitments to the Council of Europe, for a forthcoming report.
Talks are scheduled with personalities including Vladimir Ustinov, Minister of Justice, Alexander Grushko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Viatcheslav Lebedev, President of the Supreme Court, Valery Zorkin, President of the Constitutional Court, Alexander Zvyagintsev, Deputy Prosecutor General, and Vladimir Lukin, Ombudsman, and with representatives of NGOs and the media.
