Marie-Louise Bemelmans-Videc (Netherlands, EPP/CD) will represent the PACE Committee of Legal Affairs and Human Rights at the colloquy “Towards stronger implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights” at national level, organised under the Swedish Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, which is to be held in Stockholm on 9 and 10 June.
On that occasion she will give a presentation on the role of parliamentarians in ensuring effective implementation of the Convention at national level and rapid execution of the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights. Other speakers include the Swedish Minister of Justice, Beatrice Ask, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Terry Davis, the President of the Court, Jean-Paul Costa, and the Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Thomas Hammarberg.
