Bosnia and Herzegovina: press briefing on the PACE Monitoring Committee report

Strasbourg, 11.12.2009 – A press briefing is held at 11.30 am at the Council of Europe office in Paris – 55, avenue Kléber, Paris 16th – in connection with the adoption of the report of Mevlüt Çavusoglu (Turkey, EDG) and Kimmo Sasi (Finland, EPP/CD), co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), who are monitoring Bosnia and Herzegovina's commitments and obligations to the Council of Europe.

The report stresses the urgent need for constitutional reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina. According to the co-rapporteurs, the lack of such reform is impeding the functioning of democratic institutions and delaying the implementation of key reforms in the country. The report will be considered by PACE in Strasbourg at its next plenary session (25-29 January 2010).
