PACE monitoring co-rapporteurs to visit Georgia

Strasbourg, 05.04.2013 – Michael Aastrup Jensen (Denmark, ALDE) and Boriss Cilevičs (Latvia, SOC) co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on the honouring of obligations and commitments by Georgia, will undertake a fact-finding visit to the country from 8 to 11 April.

In Tbilisi they are due to meet the President of the Republic, the Speaker of the Parliament, the Prime Minister, the Foreign and Justice Ministers and the State Minister for Reintegration.

Talks are also scheduled with the Prime Minister’s Special Representative for relations with Russia, representatives of the political factions represented in parliament, the Georgian delegation to PACE, the President of the Supreme Court, members of the international community and NGOs.

In Samtskhe-Javakheti, they will meet the local authorities and minority representatives.

The co-rapporteurs will give a press conference on Thursday 11 April at 6.30 pm (place to be confirmed).
