Strasbourg, 10.06.2013 – Pedro Agramunt (Spain, EPP/CD) and Joseph Debono Grech (Malta, SOC), co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for the monitoring of Azerbaijan, will visit the country from 11 to 13 June 2013, to further assess the honouring of its obligations and commitments to the Council of Europe.
In Baku, the co-rapporteurs are due to meet the Speaker of the Milli Mejlis, the Ministers of Internal Affairs and Justice, the leaders of political parties in the parliament and leaders of extra-parliamentary opposition parties.
Talks are also scheduled with the heads of the Central Election Commission, the Supreme Court and the Bar Association, as well as with the Prosecutor General. The co-rapporteurs will also meet NGO representatives and independent journalists.
The co-rapporteurs will give a press conference at 6.15 pm on Thursday 13 June in the Baku office of the Council of Europe (39-41, Boyuk Gala Street, Icheri Sheher).
