“We have to intensify our efforts and recognise culture as a major catalyst for promoting the respect and observance of human rights” said PACE President Anne Brasseur on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the European Cultural Convention.
“National parliaments have a key role to play and an important responsibility to enhance policies for education and culture, which should not only encourage the development of employment-oriented competences, but also promote ethical and political values in line with the main aims of the Council of Europe”.
“I would like to highlight the importance of intensifying work promoting cultural and educational exchanges at the national level and across borders and I call on member States to intensify their work in this area, including under the European Cultural Convention.”
