PACE rapporteur Kimmo Kiljunen (Finland, SOC) will be in Vilnius and Warsaw from 1 to 3 September to meet Belarusian political stakeholders and civil society representatives living abroad, in the context of the preparation of his report on “Call for an inclusive national political process in Belarus”.

PACE has been following the situation in Belarus since 1992 when the Belarus National Assembly was granted special guest status. Due to a lack of democratic progress, this status was suspended in 1997 and the accession process, initiated in 1993, was frozen.

The ongoing report aims to promote an inclusive, peaceful and constructive dialogue engaging all Belarusian political stakeholders, including the authorities, opposition and civil society, with a view to supporting fundamental reforms in the country.
