A six-member, cross-party PACE observer delegation, led by Alfred Heer (Switzerland, ALDE), is to make a pre-electoral visit to North Macedonia on 26-27 March 2024 to assess the election campaign and political climate prior to the presidential and parliamentary elections in the country on 24 April and 8 May.
In Skopje, the delegation is due to meet the Speaker of the Assembly of North Macedonia as well candidates for the Presidency, party leaders and representatives, and the President and members of the State Election Commission. Talks are also scheduled with journalists and civil society groups, members of the diplomatic corps, fellow international observers from the OSCE’s ODIHR, and members of the North Macedonian delegation to PACE.
The delegation will issue a statement at the end of the visit. A full delegation is due to travel to North Macedonia to observe the elections, alongside other international observers, on 24 April and 8 May.
