“I welcome the prisoner exchange taking place this Sunday, the third and final phase of a ‘1,000 for 1,000’ exchange negotiated last week in Istanbul by Russia and Ukraine. I hope that this important step will help build trust and genuine cooperation between all parties to the conflict. It must serve as a lever to achieve a ceasefire without delay,” said PACE President Theodoros Rousopoulos.
“Diplomacy must produce tangible results and must not be undermined by the relentless Russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and its region over the past 48 hours, which have claimed many lives, including children. This terror inflicted on civilian populations must stop,” he concluded.
