Acquisition by refugees of the nationality of their country of residence

The Assembly,

1. Whereas the problem of refugees in Council of Europe member states is far from having been solved ;

2. Hoping that the number of refugees in the member states will be reduced in the coming years by acquisition of the nationality of their country of residence, in accordance with the proposals in Recommendation 564,

3. Instructs its Committee on Population and Refugees to follow the question of the naturalisation of refugees in member states and report back to the Assembly in due course ;

4. Instructs its Legal Affairs Committee to include in its work concerning the acquisition of nationality the legal aspects of the acquisition by refugees of the nationality of their country of residence.
