Reply to the 7th progress report of the Council of Europe Special Representative for National Refugees and Over-population

The Assembly,
Having studied the 7th progress report of the Special Representative for National Refugees and Over-population in Europe (Doc. 1586) ;
Having noted the report of its Committee on Population and Refugees on the situation of refugees in Greece and Turkey (Docs. 1628 and 1629) ;
Recalling its Recommendation 299 (1961) on the Special Representative's vocational training programme,
1. Welcomes the accession of the Republic of Cyprus to the Resettlement Fund ;
2. Urges the Special Representative to take every appropriate action to bring about the accession of new Members to the Resettlement Fund ;
3. Considers that the Resettlement Fund should grant as much financial aid as possible on the most advantageous terms to those European countries whose economic development is retarded ;
4. Hopes that the Committee of Ministers, after agreeing in principle to the provisions of 30 grants by the Council of Europe for the training of instructors, will make available to the Special Representative the funds necessary to carry out this project.
