The Assembly,

Having regard to the report (Doc. 1752) on the Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies presented by its Committee on Agriculture;

Whereas the Agreement of 21st May 1962 establishing this Centre has so far been ratified by only one of the seven signatory countries, and that, to enter into force, it must be ratified by at least three countries ;

Considering that, in a spirit of international fellowship and co-operation, all member countries of the Council of Europe should support the work of the Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies,

Requests the members of its Committee on Agriculture and of its Permanent Working Party on Parliamentary and Public Relations to use all suitable means to urge their Parliaments and their Governments :

1 in the signatory countries, to expedite the ratification of the Agreement of 21st May 1962 establishing the Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies ;

2 to persuade member countries of the Council of Europe not party to the Agreement of 21st May 1962 to participate in the work of the Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies in the manner they deem most appropriate.
