The Assembly,

1. Having noted the aims and activities of the United Towns Organisation (UTO) ;

2. Considering the provision of Resolution (72) 35 of the Committee of Ministers, concerning the relations between the Council of Europe and international non-governmental organisations ;

3. Noting that the United Towns Organisation accepts the principles set out in the Preamble and Article 1 of the Statute of the Council of Europe ;

4. Having been informed of the exchange of correspondence and considering the discussion which took place between its Committee on Regional Planning and Local Authorities and a delegation from the board of UTO on 26 March 1974 ;

5. Expressing the expectation that UTO will contribute to the achievement of the intentions of the Council of Europe,

6. Recommends that the Committee of Ministers grant consultative status to the United Towns Organisation.
