Creation of a European Postage Stamp

Resolution 6 (1951)

Author(s):
Parliamentary Assembly
Origin
This Resolution was adopted by the Assembly at its Thirty-second Sitting 5th December 1951.(See Doc. 53, Reportof the Committee on Economic Questions).

The Assembly,

Having noted the work performed by the Committee on Economic Questions in pursuance of the Recommendation concerning the creation of a uniform European Postage Stamp,

Recognising, in the light of the experience thus gained, that any attempt to give practical effect to the above Recommendation might well lead the majority of the Member States at the present time to adopt an attitude of reserve,

Expresses the hope that the examination of the question may be pursued by the appropriate departments of the Member States, with a view to bringing forward solutions which might make it easier for the original Recommendation of the Assembly to be accepted by those States,

Invites the Secretariat-General to agree with the competent administrative department of the French Government on the necessary arrangements for issuing a special series of stamps for the Council of Europe, as a first symbolic step towards the adoption of a uniform European Stamp.
