1. The Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe expresses its thanks to the O.E.E.C. for the seventh Survey which the O.E.E.C. has prepared for the Council of Europe.
2. The Assembly also wishes to convey its appreciation to the Austrian Foreign Minister, Herr Figl, for his presentation of the survey to the Assembly and for the co-operation extended by him and the officials of the O.E.E.C. to the Assembly. The Assembly regards this growing functional co-operation as beneficial to both organisations and to the concept of European unity.
3. The Assembly welcomes the decision of the Council of O.E.E.C. taken at its July meeting to set up a Ministerial Working Party to examine the current economic situation, and problems arising therefrom, and expresses its confidence that the O.E.E.C. will keep the Assembly steadily informed through its Committee on Economic Questions on the progress of the Ministerial Working Party.
4. The Assembly ventures to draw the attention of the O.E.E.C. to a report
Noteon the current economic situation in member countries which has been prepared by its Committee on Economic Questions and which was motivated by considerations similar to those which pompted the setting-up of the Ministerial Working Party by the O.E.E.C.
5. The Assembly notes with pleasure the decision of the Committee of Ministers (Resolution (56) 15) taken on the basis of the Assembly's Recommendations 91 (1955) and 95 (1956) concerning measures for the economic development of Southern Europe. The Assembly hopes that the O.E.E.C. will keep the Assembly informed of the progress made in these matters, particularly in regard to a thoroughgoing examination of the proposal for creating a European Development Fund, which was requested by the Committee of Ministers in its above-mentioned Resolution.
