The Assembly,

1. Considering that the shortage of nurses raises problems that need to be examined in a European context :

2. Believing that professional nursing bodies ought to be associated with any proposals for improving the situation ;

3. Considering that local authorities can give valuable help in putting into force practical measures aimed at improving the organisation of the hospital services they administer ;

4. Decides to transmit the Assembly report on the shortage of nurses in Europe :
